Susanne Blythe joined Acadia Divinity College as Receptionist and Building Manager in January 2022, after serving the College in a temporary role for five months.
Susanne brings a wealth of experience in public service to this key role in the College. As a registered nurse in Scotland, she was employed with the National Health Service for approximately 25 years. During this time, she developed essential skills in listening, time management, and working with other disciplines. Her last role was as a senior charge nurse, managing the ear nose and throat clinic in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, and subsequently the pre-operative assessment service, over two sites. This position also included building management and carrying out health and safety assessments, skills that will be valuable in her responsibilities as Building Manager. In 2001, Susanne earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Caledonian University in Glasgow, Scotland. Her professional development included courses in infection control and annual training in fire prevention and gender-based violence, equality, and diversity.
While living in Amsterdam between 2014 and 2017, Susanne learned Dutch and volunteered in the library of the International Baptist Theological Study Centre (IBTSC) and a Kringloop (recycling centre). She was also employed as a receptionist at the British School of Amsterdam, meeting and greeting students and visitors to the school. In September 2017, Susanne moved to Nova Scotia. and in August 2018, was hired as deputy cook at the Building Blocks Pre-School in Wolfville where she completed training in First Aid and Food Handling.
Susanne is married to Stuart, and together they have two adult children, Stephen and Kim-Michal, and one dog, Japie. In her free time, Susanne enjoys playing the bagpipes and her saxophone.
