Joel has extensive background in youth development, outdoor education, and has served in differing ministry roles across Canada. Most recently Joel served as the Associate Director of the Canadian Baptist of Atlantic Canada Youth and Family Department. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Joel moved to Wolfville, Nova Scotia in 2009. While working as a High School Campus Minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada, Joel completed his Bachelor of Theology at Acadia, and went on to complete a Master of Arts in Religious and Theological Studies at Saint Mary’s University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Educational studies at Acadia with a research focus on career development, future research, youth development, and experiential education.
Joel lives in the Annapolis Valley with his wife Kathleen, daughter Adley-Jo, and three English bulldogs (Harriet, Winnie, and Moos). Joel is passionate about learning from, empowering, and encouraging the next generation to be change makers in their churches, schools, and communities.
