Jody’s journey of faith began as a response to the Holy Spirit’s invitation to follow Christ while attending a Christian Camp as a youth. Since then, God has allowed her the privilege of serving Him in different ministry roles in churches, camps, denominational settings, mission trips and in academic settings. Her call to ministry was a journey that was recognized and confirmed by various mentors along the way.
Ministry experience has included serving in the Youth and Family Department of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC) from 2004-2014 in a variety of roles. She has also served in a variety of paid and volunteer ministry roles in different Atlantic Baptist Churches, including: First Baptist (Moncton), Atlantic Community Church (Apohaqui), Faith Baptist (Lower Sackville), First Baptist (Dartmouth) and Immanuel Baptist (Truro). She was ordained by Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro in 2011.
Jody has taught classes, conducted workshops and training for students and leaders in a variety of areas which relate to ministering to the next generation. She has served as the Associate Director of the DMin program and lecturer in Next Generation Ministry at Acadia since 2010, and more recently appointed as the Academic Assistant to the Academic Dean in 2016. She enjoys helping to sharpen and equip students to further God’s Kingdom. Her research interests include faith and young people, faith transmission, youth ministry, young adults, children’s ministry, equipping parents, family ministry and intergenerational ministry. Through her studies, she has developed a passion and desire to equip families and encourage them in their journey as they seek to raise children of faith.
Jody has the privilege to be married to Micah, a partner in ministry, and is blessed by being a mom to one daughter.
