Dr. Cheryl Ann R. Beals

Cheryl Ann Beals is the Director of The Sozo Centre for Soul Care for the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (2013- ). She has been in ministry since 1987 including:  a teacher of missionary children in Brazil, Christian Counsellor in private practice, Pastoral Support to churches, and Canadian Ministries Manager with Canadian Baptist Ministries. She was ordained in London, Ontario by Sunrise Baptist Church, CBOQ, June 1998. She is a former pastor of Victoria Road United Baptist Church, Dartmouth, NS. 

Cheryl Ann completed her Doctor of Ministry degree in 2016. Her thesis was entitled The Art of Belonging: Clergy Formation & Wellness. She is also a trained spiritual director.  

She grew up in Cherry Brook, NS, an historic Black community and is part of the African United Baptist Association of Nova Scotia. She returned home to the community in 2019. Her passion is to live in a growing freedom in Jesus Christ while assisting others to do the same, especially Christian leaders. She has a desire to see well-formed resilient spiritual leaders and spiritual communities, where people experience healing and transformation, and they are empowered & equipped to be faithful and resilient, even in the face of trauma & adversity. 

Cheryl Ann takes great pleasure in nurturing people and plants. Spiritual conversations about how God is at work thrill her. She enjoys spending time with friends and family; gardening, especially veggies & herbs; thrift shopping, and getting away with God on retreat.
