Acadia Divinity College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Benjamin MacDonald as College Recruiter effective March 27, 2023. In his new role, Ben will engage with churches, pastors, denominations, educational institutions, faculty, staff, and alumni to identify potential students and journey with them in discerning their call to Christian ministry.

A College alum, Ben brings more than seven years of ministry experience across several denominations to the role, together with a knowledge of higher education that will allow ADC to develop new initiatives in recruitment.

Ben earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language and Literature (Western, 2011) and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (Kings, 2012), and he worked in television journalism before coming to Acadia Divinity College for his Master of Arts (Theology) degree, graduating as the silver medalist in theology in 2016. Ben joined the staff team while studying at the College, where he helped develop and execute recruitment strategies for online students and assisted in fundraising initiatives. His deep interest in theology was nurtured, and he went on to Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto to earn a PhD in Theological Studies (2023).

“Ben relates well to pastoral leaders, and those needing encouragement to follow their call to ministry,” said ADC President Dr. Anna Robbins of the appointment. “His knowledge of the faith landscape in Halifax will help us to pursue our strategic vision of building ADC’s relationships and recruiting potential in one of Canada’s fastest growing cities, as well as throughout the Atlantic region, and beyond.”

Ben currently lives in Timberlea, a community located within the Municipality of Halifax, with his wife Melissa Evans, and their daughter, Josephine.
