Indigenous Studies
The Indigenous Studies specialization prepares students for Christian ministry with deeper attentiveness to Indigenous histories, cultures, theologies, and ways of knowing. It invites students to learn with humility, to pursue right relations, and to engage questions of land, community, justice, reconciliation, and Christian witness.
At Acadia Divinity College, this specialization is shaped through our partnership with NAIITS: An Indigenous Learning Community. Alongside the core MDiv curriculum, students take NAIITS cross-listed courses that deepen their understanding of Indigenous perspectives and support ministry that is relational, contextual, and attentive to the whole person in community.
This specialization is especially suited for students who want to serve with intercultural humility, contribute to healing and reconciliation in a post-TRC Canada, and grow as Christian leaders who can engage Scripture, theology, and ministry practice in conversation with Indigenous wisdom and communities.
