Commissioning Service

7:30pm at Wolfville Baptist Church & Live Online

Since 1962, our Commissioning Service has been held for graduating students and is one of the spiritual high points of the school year. It’s our way of sending off the leaving students with love and prayerful support. The departing students are commissioned to fulfill their ministry in Christ’s Church.

If you plan to tune in online, the Commissioning Service will be live-streamed on this event page.

If you are attending on-site, there is a ramp on the east side of the church building to aid with accessibility.

Luke 4: 18, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed me, to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”

Annual John Gladstone Sermon

Rev. Andrea Anderson
Senior Pastor of East Preston United Baptist Church,
Retired Deputy Minister for the Province of Nova Scotia

Rev. Andrea Anderson is the Senior Pastor of East Preston United Baptist Church, located in the historical Black community of the Preston Township.

Andrea grew up in Windsor Plains, Nova Scotia. She is a graduate of both Mount Saint Vincent University (Bachelor of Business Administration) and Acadia Divinity College (Master of Divinity). Before entering full-time ministry, she had a long and successful career in Human Resource Management and was the first Black Nova Scotian to be appointed Commissioner of The Public Service Commission for the Province of Nova Scotia.

Her call to ministry began as a Christian Comedian. While she still loves to laugh and have a good time in the Lord, Andrea quickly realized that God was calling her to serve in pastoral ministry. She began by serving in various leadership roles: women of Influence, altar care, intercessory prayer team, discipleship, worship team, staff relations, finance, chairperson of several other committees. Andrea also uses her gifts to serve as a guest speaker at various churches, women’s conferences, and events.

In 2015, while also studying at Acadia Divinity College, Andrea became an Assistant Pastor at EBC The Meeting Place. In the Spring of 2022, she began serving as the Intentional Interim Pastor at East Preston United Baptist Church while concurrently holding the position of The Commissioner of the Public Service Commission. In 2023, upon being called by the Church, she stepped into the role of Senior Pastor, marking her retirement from public service.

Andrea has experienced the life-changing power of God. After living life on her terms, she returned to her first love, Jesus Christ. She is grateful that God has redeemed her and given her life purpose. It is her desire that God would use her to minister to others so that they too can experience God’s transformational power in their lives.

Andrea and her husband, Eugene Anderson, live in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Together they have two adult children and three grandchildren.

The Annual John Gladstone Sermon is named for the highly regarded Rev. Dr. John Gladstone, Senior Minister at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto, where he served between 1965 and 1991.
