The Opportunity
Acadia Divinity College is seeking an Administrative Assistant – Technology & Development for a summer position partially funded through Canada Summer Jobs. This role will support administrative, research, digital, and event-related projects connected to theological education, technology, and institutional development.
The successful candidate will support AI-related research and experimentation, assist in the planning and execution of key summer events, and provide general administrative support for development activities, including maintaining donor and constituent records.
This role offers valuable experience for someone interested in technology, higher education, ministry, or non-profit work.
The hourly wage is $20.75 per hour based on a 35-hour workweek. The length of the contract will be 8 consecutive weeks, beginning as early as May 11, 2026, and no later than June 1, 2026.

The Administrative Assistant will:
- Assist in the creation, organization, and review of research projects related to AI, technology, and higher education
- Support the planning and delivery of summer events, including alumni gatherings, lecture series, and institutional events
- Help update and maintain constituent and donor records in the Development Office
- Assist with general administrative tasks as needed

This position is designed to immerse the student in cutting-edge exploration of artificial intelligence within higher and theological education. Through hands-on involvement in research and practical experimentation, the student will develop the ability to think critically about emerging technologies, communicate insights clearly, and adapt to rapidly evolving tools and contexts. They will also strengthen their capacity for creative problem-solving as they contribute to innovative approaches in ministry training, education, and institutional work, while building practical digital fluency that is directly relevant to the future of the sector.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort using computers, digital tools, and common office software
- Interest in technology, artificial intelligence, higher education, ministry, or non-profit work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn
Experience with AI tools, database work, event support, or office administration would be considered an asset, but is not required.
This opportunity is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program so applicants must meet the eligibility requirements. To be eligible, you must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Note: International students are not eligible participants.
The candidate must be able to work independently. The position will allow for some remote work; however, the individual must be available to work from the College building in Wolfville as required as well as being on location for events.
