Introduction to Prison Ministry

Designation: CHAP 5033 / PACC 5033

This course considers the specialized form of ministry with persons who are incarcerated. Areas considered will include the following: an historical view of corrections, the social structure of prisons, prison violence, understanding the effect of guilt, grief, and shame in the prisonerÂ’s life, worship, approaches to pastoral counselling, the development of chaplaincy programs, and restorative justice.
