Biblical Hermeneutics

Designation: DMIN 8263

The course will consider the practical application of Biblical hermeneutics. Given that most, if not all, Christians believe that Scripture is normative for their faith, how do we apply it in ministry? The basics of Biblical exegesis and hermeneutical theory will be revised. Students will be invited to consider their own hermeneutical presuppositions and biases towards the text and its application, and the influence of their culture and backgrounds to their use of Scripture. Selected hermeneutical approaches will be considered and applied to the text, and their practical application discussed.
