Acadia and the Sisterhood

Written by: William H. Brackney by ACBAS, 2014.

The first booklet in the ACBAS Booklet Series is based on a sermon delivered by Dr. William H. Brackney at the Manning Memorial Chapel of Acadia University on 30 March 2014. Taking as his texts 2 Kings 2:1-11 and 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, Dr. Brackney explores the place of Acadia University, then in it’s 175th year, among similar institutions in North America, which he refers to as the “Sisterhood.”

Long ago a new king was raised to power in Egypt, and he ‘knew not Joseph’ and all that Joseph did for the former pharaoh and the people of Egypt. It led to the Israelite slavery, and the rest of the story ‘is history.’ Welcome to the first of a series of booklets primarily to be given to people who have contributed to the Acadia Centre for Baptist and Anabaptist Studies (commonly called ACBAS) Endowment Fund. Each booklet is a modest illustration of the work of Baptist and Anabaptist historians who toil diligently to let us know about ‘Joseph’ – that is, about folk who have contributed significantly to our Baptist and Anabaptist history.
