The 17th Believers’ Church Conference

in College News

June 22-25, 2016: The Acadia Centre for Baptist and Anabaptist Studies, a cooperative venture of Acadia Divinity College and the Acadia University Library, will be hosting The 17th Believers’ Church Conference.

Title: The Tendency Towards Separation

Topic: Come-outers Among the Believers Churches: Historical Realities and Ecclesial Concerns in the Continuing Dissenter Tradition

Theme: From their beginnings, the Believers Churches have experienced a tendency towards separation from the older traditions, and within themselves. Some would call it schism, others the pursuit of the highest doctrinal and ethical ideals.  In this multi-confessional conference, we will look at the patterns of “come-outerism” and discover the theological, historical, ethical, and social dimensions of this part of our character.
