Acadia Divinity College presented the 2015 Alumni Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Tracy vom Hagen at the ADC Friends and Alumni Supper at Acadia University on August 21, 2015. The ADC Alumni Distinguished Service Award, inaugurated in 1995, honours members of the Alumni of the Acadia University School of Theology and/or Acadia Divinity College whose gifts for ministry have contributed significantly to the Christian Church in Canada or throughout the world. Dr. vom Hagen was recognized for her outstanding contributions in the field of chaplaincy and spiritual care.
After graduating from ADC in 2004 with both Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts degree, Dr. vom Hagen earned a PhD from St. Andrew’s University in the United Kingdom. She has served in a variety of roles from a hospital chaplain in Halifax, Nova Scotia to a staff counsellor for the United Nations in Kabul, Afghanistan. Wherever she has served, Dr. vom Hagen has done so with excellence and humility, and has represented Acadia well on the world stage.
Dr. vom Hagen returned to the Acadia Divinity College as a member of the faculty in 2010 and was responsible for launching the new Charles Taylor Centre for Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care. In 2012, due to health concerns, Dr. vom Hagen stepped down from her role at ADC.
With great pleasure, the Acadia Divinity College recognizes and honours Dr. Tracy vom Hagen’s distinguished service by presenting her with the 2015 ADC Alumni Distinguished Service Award.
